Time For You!

As we kick off the holiday season, we thought it would be
the perfect time to share another amazing idea from Lexi!

At home Spa day

These days, with social distancing, it’s becoming harder and harder for parents to get “me time”. For a short term we have to miss out on those much needed days of relaxation at a spa, or even simple pleasures like getting a manicure or pedicure. The good thing about all of this is that having a spa moment at home isn’t as hard as you think. Places like Target have started stocking up on good quality essential oils and other simple ingredients that can lead to a stressed mom or dad being able to relax in their very own home!

About seven years ago I decided that I wanted to pay more attention to the things that I was putting on my body. You always hear how you should pay attention to what you are putting into your body but we sometimes trust beauty companies a little more than we should with the products we use on our bodies. At this point I make 85% of my own beauty products including but definitely not limited to toothpaste, mouthwash, face mask, eye cream, facial moiturizers and body butters. If I can make it myself I will!! Most of the time it doesn’t take as much time and energy as you would think. The hardest part is having the materials on hand. However, the more you learn the more you realize that you’re using most of the same ingredients, just with different combinations.

When I need some me time I go for my at home facial with my last mask in a detox bath with candles and relaxing music. It gets it for me every time; especially if I do it at night!

Facial:

Step 1- steam face for 10 min

*place you face over hot water with a towel around your head to lock in the steam

*opens up pores to release any build up or dirt

Step 2- Manuka honey mask

*with a soft brush wisp the honey over your entire face, let sit 2 min and rinse with warm water

*Manuka honey helps to balance skins pH and helps to slough off dead skin cells. It is  also antibacterial

Step 3- baking soda mask

*mix 1 part baking soda and 1 part water, put on face in a circular motion, let sit 2 min  and rinse with warm water

*the baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliator

Step 4- Bentonite clay face mask

*mix 1 teaspoon bentonite clay with 2 teaspoons water (do not use metal with bentonite clay) brush mask onto face with a soft brush. Let sit 20 min (this is usually when get into the bath that I’ve prepared) rinse off with warm water

*Bentonite Clay helps to detox skin and remove impurities

Step 5- Tone skin using Witch Hazel

*put witch hazel on cotton ball and brush across face, allow time to dry

Step 6- Moisturize

*use whatever moisturizer you use regularly

Detox Bath

  -softens skin, reduces stress

1 cup baking soda
