Sun Protection and PNW Adventures

Everyone could use more sun protection in their lives, especially our littles. We’ve rounded up some great options from head to toe.

Once you have the right gear,
you’re ready to head to out of town!
Last week, we shared family friendly getaways near our east coast locations, and this week, we have easy trips from Chicago and Seattle.

Sun Protection Clothing

UV Skinz- This line offers adorable options from traditional suits, full coverage bodysuits, hats and more. We also love that they offer sizes for the whole family.

LL Bean- LL Bean is a tried and true staple. We love their Sun-and-Surf bodysuit, but they also have tons of other great options!

Coolibar- Like UV Skinz, Coolibar offers a wide variety of sun safe clothing for the entire family. We especially love their “Shop by activity” function.

Even with sun protection clothing, we can’t forget the sunscreen…

These are all great, reef safe, free of all the “bad stuff” options. The trick with sunscreen is finding one your kids like. The struggle is real.

Road Trip!

Near Chicago:

Indiana Dunes State Park- This is the perfect destination for families who love adventure. From beaches to trails, cabins to bed and breakfasts, Indiana Dunes have something for everyone.

Indianapolis- Home to “The largest children's museum in the world, and named one of the best by Child magazine, offers interactive exhibits exploring art, science, history and culture, a Dinosphere, and planetarium. Over one million visitors each year enjoy this five-level playground with a 43-foot brightly colored Dale Chihuly 'Fireworks of Glass' sculpture hanging in the middle and a fully rideable antique carousel on the top floor.”- visitindy.com
Of course, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a must see, if you are in Indy, and we think a stop at Connor Prairie, a real life town, should be on the list too!

Near Seattle:

Whidbey Island- Your adventure begins with a quick 20min ferry ride from Seattle. Once you arrive, there are endless activities. Spend your days exploring the island’s many trails, or playing on the beach. This is definitely a peaceful island and a the perfect place for a family recharge.

Roslyn- A short drive east, over the mountains, you will find the perfect spot for a getaway anytime of the year. Enjoy hiking, biking and fishing in the summer and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. Suncaadia is the largest resort in the area and if you fall in love, you can purchase your own vacation home there! Be sure to check out the Roslyn Cafe (Remember Northern Exposure?!) and our favorite, Roslyn Books and Bites.

Wherever your adventures take you this summer, don’t forget the sun protection,
water bottles and allllll the patience!
