Outdoor and Virtual Holiday Fun

We look forward to family traditions every holiday season: Santa photos, zoo lights, the Nutcracker, etc.

This year, we’ve gathered a list of outdoor and virtual activities, so we can still feel the holiday magic, in a more COVID friendly way.

Atlanta, Seattle and Washington D.C. each have different levels of regulations in place. Please check the regulations in your area and use your level of comfort to gage which activities are best for your family.

Atlanta Area

Stone Mountain Christmas offers lights, music, and Santa!

License to Chill Snow Park is a great option for families who like to move. Enjoy snow tubing, ice skating and Margaritaville’s Lakeside Lights Spectacular. Lanier Island is full of holiday options!

Fernbank Museum of Natural History is offering an outdoor option to their Winter Wonderland this year. Walk through giant snow globes featuring Holiday scenes

Washington D.C. Area

Winter Wine-derland at Bluemont Vineyard has wine, cookies and cocoa. What else do you need to know?!

Lights on the Bay at Sandy Point State Park, lets you enjoy beautiful holiday lights from the comfort of your own vehicle. This is a great option for younger kiddos. Pack some post dinner snacks and stay warm and cozy!

National Menorah Lighting takes place on the Ellipse across from the White House. The first day of Chanukah is December 10th this year. Reservations are required this year to limit capacity.

Kid Friendly D.C. has tons of other great options!

Seattle/Tacoma Area

Wild Lanterns is Woodland Park Zoo’s fresh take on Zoo Lights. Timed tickets are required to limit capacity.

Leavenworth is always beautiful, but extra impressive with holiday lights. This year, the lighting celebration is cancelled, but the lights will still be on!

Fantasy Lights is a long standing tradition in the South Sound. Plan to purchase tickets early, due to higher demand for safe options in Washington this year!

Holiday Magic at the Washington State Fairground is another drive-through option for holiday fun this year. Drive through a light display, go on a scavenger hunt and enjoy some of your favorite fair foods!

Virtual Options

Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be live streaming a concert on Friday, December 18th at 8pm EST. This is the perfect way for younger kids to experience a concert.

The Washington Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and many other ballet companies, will be live streaming The Nutcracker. Throw together a fun dessert buffet, get dressed up and enjoy the ballet at home!

Playbill has a fantastic list of other virtual holiday events and movies!

Enjoy!
